York Beer and Cider Festival is 100% staffed by volunteers. If you're a CAMRA member (or a friend of a CAMRA member who can nominate you) and would like to volunteer to work at the festival we’d love to hear from you – new volunteers very often remark at what a friendly festival ours is to work at. Volunteers receive food and drink allowances whenever they're working as a reward for giving of their time.
Please click on the links on the right to fill in our volunteers form and if you want to camp or bring a caravan please also fill that form in.
As well as the more obvious roles (working behind the bars serving the huge range of real ale; cider; perry; keykeg beer; foreign beer and wine) there are many other roles that are essential to running a successful festival and which we are always short of volunteers for.
These are Stewarding; Entrance; Tombola and Membership as well as behind the scenes roles. We are often skeleton staffed for Stewards (no qualifications or experience needed as full training and support will be provided by experienced people). We also really need a few wine enthusiasts to help on that bar. Please consider volunteering for a day or more in these areas.
If you're looking for a change from serving behind a bar or just fancy helping with one of these roles because you like the look of it – please do get in touch.
We offer safe camping pitches and space for caravans for volunteers inside the site. There are shower and toilet facilities onsite for those staying overnight.
Due to the position of our camping there is no vehicle access when the festival is open. If you arrive while we are open you will be able to park outside the site and you will need to carry your camping equipment to the campsite. If you expect to arrive in a caravan while we are open please contact the staffing manager to discuss. We will try to accommodate your caravan for the first night so you don’t need to move it after closing time.
For people in tents we will have onsite parking but it will not be next to your tent. This is because we cannot have vehicles on the grass.
If you are not staying overnight we aim to have parking for you, but cannot yet guarantee it. There is plenty of parking on the public road near the site.
Just click on the Camping Form link to book your camping or caravan pitch.
The information we are collecting with the staffing form is to provide us with the information we need about volunteers at the festival and their preferences. We need this to ensure we have sufficient cover at all sessions and so that we can try to allocate volunteers to their preferred areas.
It will also be used to invite volunteers to the festival wash up meeting and helpers party. We will retain the data until after we have launched the staffing form in spring / summer 2019 and sent a link to 2018 volunteers to invite them to volunteer again. We will then delete the 2018 data.
The information we are collecting with the camping form is to make sure we know number of tents and caravans that are coming so we can make sure there is sufficient space available. It also allows those who wish to reserve an electric hook up space. We will delete this data by the end of 2018.
