The Cask Beer List
The 10th Knavesmire Beer & Cider Festival showcases over 470 different UK beers of varying strengths and styles.
Eight local breweries have their own dedicated bars with a wide range of their beers. These bars can be found at the far end of the marquee from the entrance.
We also have 8 beers from Maine in the US that have been shipped across the Atlantic in various types of wooden cask. These can be found between the brewery bars and the main bars.
The rest of the beers can be found on the main bars with breweries in alphabetical order. Included on the main bars are “mini” brewery bars showcasing five beers on each, all of which are served by handpump. These are identified with a shaded background in the programme.
We have a number of gluten free beers in cask and these are identified in the beer list and on the cask end labels.
Saturday Only
In order to improve the selection of beers available on the Saturday (following a successful trial last year) we have identified a number of beers to be reserved until Saturday. Our cellar staff will aim to have them at peak condition on Saturday. They are identified with Sat after their name, so you know which beers they are. They will also be grouped together on one bay of each bar (except the brewery bars) so you can find them. We have selected beers from breweries where we have several beers at the festival, so no one should miss out on trying beer from a particular brewery because of this.
We will again have a separate “KeyKeg” bar serving a rotating choice of 30 beers from 16 taps. All these beers are unpasteurised, unfined and served without gas having direct contact with the beer, thereby conforming with CAMRA’s definition of “real ale”. They will also be suitable for vegans. You will need to check the labels on the bar to see which beers are on at any one time.
