York Beer & Cider Festival is back and in a new exciting location
York CAMRA is delighted and excited to be able to announce the dates of their 2016 Beer & Cider Festival – the largest outdoor festival in the North.
The Festival will be held from Wednesday 14th – Saturday 17th September on York Knavesmire but at a different location.
The Festival will be sited in the new purpose built “Course Enclosure” directly opposite the Grandstand on the other side of the race track.
This will enable York CAMRA to offer the same special beer festival experience under a huge marquee but with the added advantage of being on an area with built in drainage to guard against flooding during downpours plus far better amenities such as permanent toilets and a permanent perimeter fence.
The festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with over 450 real ales; over 100 ciders and perries plus a foreign beer bar. Yorkshire, as the capital of brewing in the UK, will be as usual very well represented at the festival.
There will be a superb expanded range of world cuisines and street food available in an enhanced food village within the beer festival enclosure plus Yorkshire’s biggest beer garden for people to relax and drink in hopefully a sunny environment.
There will be a great range of talented bands and musicians to entertain festival goers as with previous years, with a live stage situated inside the tent.
York CAMRA are delighted to be hosting the SIBA North East Beer Competition for the 3rd Year running which will see over 100 regional breweries descend on the Knavesmire during the first day of the festival to pit their real ales against each other.
In another first for the festival – York CAMRA are partnering with Eventbrite to offer advance tickets for all sessions of the festival which will include e-ticketing via smartphones. Details of where to go to purchase these will be made available over the next week or so.
Festival Organiser Melissa Reid enthuses: “We're all really excited about the move to the new site, which has given us the opportunity to re design our site layout and add more food traders. Now we need to get our thinking caps on to come up with some even more exciting festival special beers to brew and sample!”
The festival’s Communications Manager Nick Love adds: Such is the popularity of the festival, we’ve been inundated with requests from all over the UK for the dates for this year’s festival from people who want to book accommodation, so after so much work getting every last detail right for the move to the new site, we’re delighted to be able to finally release the dates for this new chapter in our history”.
